A new international sports, education and wellness centre has been established in Thailand that offers unmatched facilities and programmes. It comprises three synergistic centres: the PIA Day School, the PIA Sports, Arts and Wellness Centre and the PIA Mind Centre. They offer students, parents and people from all over Phuket, as well as international communities, a state of the art, sustainable facility with focus on education, sports, arts and wellness.
Phuket International Academy is located in an area of natural beauty among the foothills of a national park on the eastern part of Phuket, Thailand. The values of Phuket International Academy is to realize the intellectual, physical, creative and spiritual possibilities of all students, members and participants of the three centres.
The Phuket International Academy Day School (PIADS) is working to achieve a three programme International Baccalaureate (IB) World School. As a pioneering international school in Phuket, it will incorporate the uniqueness of Asian culture with the best from Western educational traditions, to develop inquisitive, informed, and empathetic young people who know how to live with integrity, cultivate genuine happiness, and strive to create a more peaceful and sustainable earth. The PIA Day School has first-rate facilities, teachers, trainers, staff and administration.
Phuket International Academy Sports and Leisure Club (PIASLC) is partially completed, and will soon start to offer a diverse of world-class sports, arts, wellness and recreational facilities and programmes for the enjoyment of the school’s pupils, their families, the local Phuket community and for visiting professional and amateur individual athletes and teams from around the world. PIASLC is going to set the standard as a regional hub for sports, arts and wellness in Thailand and Asia, and quite possibly the world.
Phuket International Academy Mind Centre (PIAMC) is currently under construction and will soon start to deliver training in the cultivation of cognitive and emotional balance. The PIAMC will provide a blend of contemporary psychology and neuroscience alongside ancient Asian contemplative practices. Delivered through residential retreats and weekend seminars PIAMC is open to all. Working in close relation with the PIA Day School and the Phuket International Academy Sports and Leisure Club, the programmes offered through Phuket International Academy Mind Centre will contribute to participant’s enhanced mental equilibrium
and wellbeing. April 10th marks the launch of the PIA Mind Centre (PIAMC) with a weekend “Genuine Happiness Retreat” led by Dr. B Alan Wallace. The retreat incorporates two methods for cultivating meditative quiescence referred to as shamatha. It teaches the practice of “mindfulness of breathing”, which is helpful way for relaxing the body and calming the mind. A second method taught is both a shamatha practice and vipashyana, “insight meditation” called “settling the mind in its natural state”.
