A website, a photo printer and a few friends that can help you with distributions and you have an online photo laboratory. You don’t have to worry too much about advertising either, it’s enough to announce the people you know and before you realize it, everyone will hear. Could it be this simple?

There are few few people left who still own classic film cameras. If four years ago the European market merely gathered the first million euros from  selling digital cameras, last year they gathered 10 -30 millions of euros and next year the sells are supposed to double. The classical photo laboratories were forced to adapt and to print out the digital photos clients brought them. The digital photo printing services are photo labs that can be accessed online, from your own home. the procedure is simple: the website has uploading space where the user upload images and specifies the time of prints he wants, then he pays and waits at home for its pictures.

Photos labs online charge a lot less than local printers. If you want to start such an online business, it’s recommended to start with a small photo printer, because professional equipment costs a lot, for example a professional photo printer adapted for high speeds goes well above 10.000 euros and a paper role that permits the printing of 7000 photos costs 20 dollars, but to get this pictures you also need a toner, witch costs 1000 dollars.

If you can’t assure proper functionally yourself, hire a few specialized people that can help you The first 3 – 4 months it’s normal and expected to register low sales, but after that the number of clients will raise exponentially and you will need to make sure you can cope with all the delivers in time and also, to make sure the website is never offline. When the site if offline you have no visibility and a new customer that tries to enter the website will never return. We line in a digitalized world, so paying from home is a must. Online payment is already party of our everyday lives. If people realize that they can order the photos and pay without having to waste any more time, then you already hold an ace in your sleeve. photo printing services

Is Editing Digital Photos Images good for Image Quality?

Monday, May 18th, 2009

People that say tiff is the most appropriate format for picture editing are not as right as they claim.

In fact, when you first got your pictures from the camera, transforming them is never the first step. The image is stoked onto your hard drive in a compressed format, named JPG. The image that is read by the virtual memory is uncompressed. Format issues can only arise after editing what you want and saving the final image. Compressing during a save does not affect the quality of the initial uncompressed image with the changes it now has that is still located in the virtual memory and will remain there until you close the editing program. The only quality changes are visible in the saved JPG, with because of the compression it’s normal to have less information.

It’s normal to make intermediary saves when changing a photo’s appearance because you never know what could go wrong. These intermediary save will always be done under a format that is especially made for editing, that saves both quality and allows changes to become editable. If by instance you are using Photoshop to make changes, then save the intermediary files as psd, witch is the typical Adobe Photoshop format. Failing to do this will return an intermediary save that acts just like another image. And finally, when you think you are done, choose a final saving format for the image from the conventional ones.

Some people believe that if you crop in any way an image you will lose quality. Cropping means that you can rotate, enlarge, resize the picture using certain algorithms that are known by your editing program. It’s obvious that enlarging algorithms that will enlarge only by pulling pixels until they become visible are algorithms that decrease image quality. photo printing online

Is Editing Digital Photography Images Safe for Image Quality?

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Some say that after you have your high quality, high resolution pictures and you want to put them on your hard drive and work on them for a little bit, it’s best to transform first the Jpeg files that come from you camera to tiff or other appropriate format, because working on jpegs might cause you to loose quality and color.

But transforming from JPG to something else has no relevancy as a first step of editing digital photography. Usually camera save pictures as JPG, and this is the format you will see on your hard drive But the Pc’s virtual memory will unravel the image when you open it. Only at the time you want to save the edited image from you PC’s virtual memory you might raise the problem of file format: jpg, gif, tiff, png and so on. Compressing during a save does not affect the quality of the initial uncompressed image with the changes it now has that is still located in the virtual memory and will remain there until you close the editing program. What you have in the computer memory is not affected by a save during editing, as long as you use a different name for the new file.

This problem is questioned by people that make saves during editing so they have a good restoring point that can show some progresses. Make the intermediary saves in a digital photography format that stores high quality, maybe even uncompressed images , but also leaves the edited file intact, without flattening and closing layers. So this basically means you should save the intermediary images in the format that is specific to your photo editing software. If you do this, when you mess up your work and return to the saved point, you will be able to follow all the previously taken steps. Only at the end save the image in as a standard picture file, JPG, TIFF, GIF, depending on its purpose.

Another myth that is not true is the one that states cropping a digital photography image can modify its pixels. Cropping means that you can rotate, enlarge, resize the picture using certain algorithms that are known by your editing program. Some algorithms eliminate extra unnecessary pixels, and others will simply enlarge existing pixels. photo printing online
