The reality TV way to become a famous singer

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

Have you ever dreamt of learning to sing like a star and launching a professional singing career? There are many routes to fame but reality TV is proving increasingly popular.

Crazy as it sounds, nowadays reality television offers an attractive chance for aspiring singers to be rise to stardom. Insanely popular singing shows like American Idol and its counterparts across the world are always on the lookout for gifted singers to entertain their growing audiences. These reality singing shows have the potential to skyrocket an aspiring singers career.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that although singers can shoot to stardom within a few short months, these people were talented singers before making an appearance on singing television shows. As a general rule contestants will have been working hard to develop and improve their singing voice years before their lucky break. While many describe show contestants as having “got lucky”, the truth is that reality TV contestants create their own luck by being motivated and daring enough to enrol for the show and participate in auditions. Woody Allen said it best, “Eighty percent of success is showing up”.

Just like it helps to know people in the right places, reality singing shows work in a similar way to having the right connections. They help people to get the exposure they need to achieve their singing dreams. Just to be clear, by no means am I saying that you only have to show up to become a famous singer through TV singing shows. Showing up for an audition for a TV singing show is no guarantee that you have what it takes to pass the gruelling auditions. The likes of American Idol are highly competitive and the odds of truly standing out in one of these contests is slim. But the rewards are huge and I guess it’s like anything in life, if you don’t try, you may never discover your true potential.

Becoming a famous singer on TV

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

Have you ever wondered how to become a singer and launch a successful singing career? There are many routes to fame but reality TV is proving increasingly popular.

As crazy as it seems, these days reality television offers a very real opportunity for talented individuals to get “discovered” and become famous singers almost overnight. Shows like American Idol and its counterparts across the world are on the lookout for singing sensations. These reality singing shows have the potential to skyrocket an aspiring singers career.

Don’t lose sight of the fact that although singers can shoot to stardom within a few short months, these people were talented singers before making an appearance on singing television shows. In almost all cases, show contestants had been working to develop their singing voice years before their lucky break. While many describe show contestants as having “got lucky”, the truth is that reality TV contestants create their own luck by being motivated and daring enough to enrol for the show and participate in auditions. Like Woody Allen says, “Eighty percent of success is showing up”.

Everyone knows that it helps to be well connected but just as you need to put yourself out there to meet influential people in the music industry, so too do you need to put yourself in the position to participate in television singing contests in order to be discovered. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that it’s easy to become a famous singer through reality TV. Merely showing up is no guarantee that you have the skill or the nerves to make it big on the international singing scene. Singing competitions are highly competitive and it takes guts and hard work to compete on national television in front of a live jury and stand out among the competition. But the rewards are huge and I guess it’s like anything in life, if you don’t try, you may never discover your true potential.

Learning to Sing is Easy if You Know How

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

I have often heard it remarked that people are born with the ability to sing and it isn’t something you can learn.  This implied that anyone who doesn’t spring out of the womb singing like Mariah Carey should just give up.  Such nonsense!  It is easy for anyone to learn to sing and bring out their own unique voice if you receive the right training.

If you are considering hiring a vocal coach then depending on your current ability you may have to spend a thousand dollars or more which may be a little expensive for most people.  Most vocal coaches teach you things you dont really need to know because you don’t probably don’t want to be an opera singer.

It is a fact that the majority of vocal coaches are failed professionals who have suffered for their art without success. They want to teach their students the rigid art of singing but that may not be what you want. You might just want to learn how to sing so you can sound good at the next karaoke night in which case a vocal coach isn’t for you.

This type of vocal coaching can turn many students away from learning how to sing.  Feeling like you are a young student again with a strict teacher can make the experience uncomfortable but many singing tutors simply dont know any better or how to get the best out of their students.

Most people have tried teaching themselves to sing with the aid of CDs or DVDs.  These methods are fine to a certain degree but they tend to be blanket techniques, a one size fits all approach to learning how to sing. In fact, you may do more harm than good to your voice by using these techniques.  So which way is best?

Even these learn how to sing materials often fall way short of what the student expects or wants.  Many of the teaching aids contain stuffy exercises and regimes that seem to imply that everyone wishes to learn how to sing opera.

The majority of people would just like to be able to sing a little better and have a nicer sounding voice.  It would be pointless if we all sounded the same don’t you agree?  If you look at some of the most charasmatic singers down the years (especially in the modern pop era) you will find that most of them have their own unique style which immediately identifies them.  And thats what you should be looking for from yourself too.

Make sure that your passion drives you and you never give up on your ambition.  If you love to sing and it is a part of who you are then you can and will improve.  With the right training you can get up confidently infront of many people and amaze them with your wonderful, but unique singing style.
