Unfortunately, there’s a certain negative stigma attached to taking nude photos, and people jump to the wrong conclusion, even though such images have been regarded for thousands of years as a beautiful form of art. The great masters painted them, sculpted them, and - yes - photographed them.

So, despite what some parts of society would have you believe, there is no shame to be attached to wanting to take nude photos. Such shame should rather be attached to those who produce the glut of meaningless photographs that fill are magazines and computer screens, and adorn our walls - photos which express nothing and make no statement to the person looking them.

Even when this is your bread and butter, and you photograph food or furniture for a living, there is always the artist inside that cries out for release. And for some, the drive to take nude photos is always there… we recall Michelangelo’s work, and da Vinci’s, and Botticelli’s; and some few of us recall Bernhard, Brigman, and Weston.

The cultural sensitivity in America makes it difficult to pursue these noble goals.
